Weld input guide
Choose the actual weld-line layout, then enter its breadth/depth and fillet leg size. Enter the electrode/parent-material design strength and the complete concurrent actions. For asymmetric angle/channel groups, identify the tension side. The sketch is a layout identifier, not a fabrication drawing.
The displayed utilisation is a demand/resistance comparison for the named model, not a percentage of overall connection safety. A zero-demand result does not prove that the physical joint is adequate. Independently check the joint load path and the omitted connection modes before use.
Worked workbook example
I/H single layer, B = 150 mm, D = 75 mm, 4 mm leg and 220 MPa weld strength; Vy = 142.45 kN and all other actions zero. Source L = 450 mm, rounded line demand = 317 N/mm and capacity = 616 N/mm: 51.5% comparison. Effective weld lengths and the physical layout must still be independently verified.
Calculation interpretation
Open each detailed row for the selected geometry, action substitutions and cell references. Zx/Zy are line-group section moduli (mm²), not solid-section moduli. Torque is disclosed but withheld because the source expression has incompatible units.
Assumptions and limitations
No butt-weld, intermittent-weld, fatigue or point-by-point signed stress design. Defective double-layer formula labels and the inconsistent channel polar-moment branch are disclosed. The source’s unconditional “structurally adequate” conclusion is not used.
