Tributary width is the bridge from area load to line load.
Floor actions are often entered as area loads in kPa, while a supporting beam is checked with a line load in kN/m. The one-way tributary width makes that conversion explicit.
Governing relationship
The slab self-weight is gself = ρgt / 1000. Add finishes and partitions to obtain the dead load gk, then add the imposed load qk. The service line load is wk = (gk + qk) btrib.

- This screen does not choose a code load combination, partial factors, ψ factors, or accidental actions.
- Two-way slab distribution, openings, concentrated loads, edge conditions, cantilevers, walls, and point reactions need separate treatment.
- Confirm the tributary width and each floor-load component against the architectural, structural, and project information.
